I was wrong

(about speaking.)

In partnership with

Hey royals,

I need to confess something...

I was wrong - very wrong.

For the longest time, I believed anyone could be a speaker. That with enough practice, polishing, and the right push, anyone could take the stage, share their story, and own the mic.

But this week, I had a moment that made me stop in my tracks.

💬 The call I nearly walked out on

It was a standard clarity call - one of many I've taken to hear people out and understand if they're the right fit for the community we're building inside the Speakers Society Accelerator.

This person wasn't rude. In fact, they were likeable. Entertaining, even. Charisma? Check. Viral material? Definitely.

But then they said it:

"I want to be a speaker because speakers make more money."

And I felt myself recoil.

Now let me be real - I'm not allergic to money. I do what I do because I want to be well-compensated. I believe in being paid respectfully, especially when you're delivering real value.

But here's the thing...

Speaking isn't just another monetisation tool. It's not a get-rich-quick platform.
It's a role. And with it comes responsibility.

🎙️ Creator vs. speaker: There's a difference

As a content creator, this person would probably crush it. A bit of tweaking here and there, and they'd probably go global. That wasn't the issue.

The issue was purpose.

A speaker isn't just someone who creates content and delivers knowledge.
A speaker leads.
They hold the mic and the moral compass.
They're not just present in the room - they shift the room.

When I enter a session, I do it with intention. I want to create change, not just attention.

So when someone says, "I just want to make money," with no deeper alignment...
It's not that they're wrong.
They're just not right for this.

⚖️ Alignment > virality

Now don't get me wrong - I'm not here to discriminate.
Just as people have the right to choose who they learn from, I have the right to choose who I teach.

And I believe some roles require a level of self-awareness, discipline, and alignment.

A lawyer can't be a doctor. A doctor can't argue your court case.
Sure, you don't need a certificate to be a speaker, but the standard matters.

The alignment matters.

And guess what? I didn't always believe this.

If you'd asked me a week ago, I'd probably say, "Sure, everyone can be a speaker. They just need polishing."

Today? I'd say no.
Not everyone should be a speaker.

💡 Truth check: I'm self-centred (and that's not a bad thing)

I don't speak from a pedestal. I'm flawed, self-aware, and yes, self-centred.
But here's what I've learned:

👉🏻 Being self-centred doesn't mean selfish. It means understanding that you can't pour into others from an empty cup.

And in this role, the "me" vs. "us" balance matters.

I'm not here to prove someone else wrong.
I'm here to prove myself to myself.
That I can build a platform that isn't just about noise - it's about nuance.
That I can stay true to the values I believe in.

💰 Real talk: Speaking is a business (but it's also a calling)

Let's not sugarcoat it.
Yes - speakers can and should get paid well.
Yes - this is a powerful income stream.

But when the only reason you step on stage is to secure the cheque, the energy speaks louder than your words.

Inside the Speakers Society Accelerator, we don't just teach you how to pitch.
We teach you how to own your message, align your purpose, and create true resonance - online and offline.

Because the real secret to being booked and paid?
Is being believable.

🚀 A little warning... and a little invitation

So here's the cheeky part.
Ready?

I might not accept you.

Because I'm not building a mass programme.
I'm building a movement.

One where alignment trumps applause.
One where purpose beats performance.
One where you don't just get on stage - you belong on it.

💌 Final thoughts

The world is big enough for all of us to shine.
But the room I'm building?
It's sacred.
It's selective.
It's for those who are ready to speak, ready to serve, and ready to soar.

I was wrong before.
But I'm right about this:
You deserve a stage where your voice doesn't just echo - it elevates.

And if you're meant to be there, I'll see you soon.
